August 9

Carol Frank, Florrie and  Betty correctly identified "Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death!" coming from Auntie Mame.

The following is courtesy of Gil Coshland:

Many movies have working titles before they are released.  What well know film had the working title:  The Man in Lincoln's Nose?

On Netflix:

Jiro Dreams of Sushi - This short documentary profiles sushi chef Jiro Ono, an 85 year old master of sushi who owns and oversees the only Michelin three star 10 seat, $300 a plate restaurant in Tokyo.  The documentary shows how he and his son goes about buying the fish and other items i.e. rice from the various venders and then how perfection is achieved each and every day.  Jiro's two sons are in the business with the older one still working along side his father while the younger son has opened a sushi place of his own.  Interesting documentary

The Gray - I specifically ordered this film for Sy as he likes Liam Nielsen as do I and I thought it would be an exciting adventure movie.  It is
EXTREMELY VIOLENT.  In fact, Sy many time during the movie told me to just shut it.  We both thought it had no redeeming value and was very gory and scary.  Do yourself a favor and don't see it.  O:-).

On Netflix and Instant Streaming:

Janie Jones
- This film stars Abigail Breslin, the young actress from Little Miss Sunshine.  She is the daughter of a has been rock star who meets her for the first time when her groupie mother dumps her on his doorstep thirteen years later..  The rock star is played by Alesandro Nivola who looks like a young John Corbett.  The story follows the usual pattern of young girl who is smarter than her Dad and turns his life around.  The music in the film is quite good and the story nice.  A good departure from the last film I saw.  (see above!) ;-);-)

Since I am working for the next two months, my movie viewing might be a little less, but I will post an entry whenever I can.
