First of all welcome to the new people to my little site. I hope you find these reviews of help. If at any time, you want me to delete you from the distribution list, please let me know. I promise I won't be offended. Also on the advice of some, I am going to have a smile rating system.
Don't bother, read a book, call a friend, but don't watch this movie
If you are lonely, there's nothing on TV and you've returned all your books to the library, will pass the time well.
A good movie. Good acting, Good Script. The operative word is good, not great.
A very good movie. Even if you saw it in the theater, it might require a second viewing. An engaging movie.
Fantastic movie. Not to miss. Should have won the Academy Award, if it didn't.
First up:
The Bank Job - You won't recognize any of the actors in this wonderful English film. It is based on a true story and has a number of twists and turns. The beginning of the film really gets your attention as it is quite erotic, but the story really picks up and ties everything together so the sex is not gratuitous as it really relates to the events in the story. There are some grizzly violent scenes, but not many. It will hold your attention through the almost two hours of the film and is a very good story. I would rate this . It's a great rental.
Unfamiliar Strangers - This is another independent movie that is presently in limited distribution so it is not on Netflix yet. A little background - Our friends have invested in the company who produced this film and invited a group of us to go to the local "art" filmhouse to see it. Even though our friends are involved with this production, I will be very objective in my review. This is a story that we've seen before; child returns to small town for holidays after three years in the big city. Quarky family with the garden variety of problems - divorced sister, unproductive brother, distant father, a mom trying to keep everyone happy, and sassy grandchild. The brother in the film is the highlight. He has some of the best lines and a very likeable character. A little too predictable, but enjoyable just the same.
I would be happy to send any comments you have about my reviews to the group, so send them along if you agree or disagree with them. I must say that I had two opposite reactions from two people about my pan of Get Smart. One person agreed with me and thought it was awful, but another thought it was a laugh riot. That's what makes the world go round and a great variety of movies out there. So sit back and enjoy the movies.
